Lindsay’s Profile

My love for cars, specifically 4×4’s stated at a young age. I grew up on a cattle & sheep station in the outback of Australia. The car I learnt to drive was a Suzuki Stockman, basically a Samurai with a pickup bed on the back when I was 6 years old. It was then that my interest for offroading started. Being from the bush you were always braving the elements and having to resolve problems yourself, similar to being struck in a trail. Typically you were changing tires, fixing flats, dealing with overheating vehicles and and when it did eventually rain you were forging through all sorts of blacksoil mud. It wasn’t uncommon to walk for 10 miles if you got stuck.

After school I couldn’t afford a 4×4 so I opted for the next best thing, a Ford Falcon ute. If you don’t know what one of these are, just think El Comino. After flipping up a couple more care I was finally able to get myself a 4×4 a 95 diesel Land Cruiser Ute (HZJ75). During that time I lived in Brisbane, Australia and we had a couple of 4×4 parks pretty close that we used to head up to every couple of months. This what solidified my love for 4×4’s It was tons of fun and great to be able to get out of the city form time to time, which is what’s it’s all about.
When I was 23 I decided to head overseas for a ski trip to the US. When I landed in LA I couldn’t believe my eyes. Built 4×4’s for days. Jeeps, Chevy’s, Toyota’s, Hummer’s, whatever you could imagine. Offroad toys as far as the eye could see and we were still in the concrete jungle of LA.
Fast forward 10 years and I’m still the US and loving it. The contrast of different terrain in the US and the ability to get into an offroad rig at an affordable price (see Working Man’s Challenge), have meant my passion for offroading has just grown, and it’s something that I want to share with others. This is definitely amplified by the fact thatI live in the beautiful  rockies and only 3.5 hours from Moab.
So almost 12 months it seemed logical to pursue the hobby even further and this is when 8K Offroad was born with a couple of friends. We plan on bringing you new products, organizing meet ups, valuable tech and product information and also some fun new technologies.
