I got a killer deal on this 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser with a spry 130,000 miles on it. I proceeded to build this rig into a capable off road machine and expedition vehicle. Coming from the factory equipped with a rear locker made the FJ very capable out of the box but that wasn’t enough. nitto3
With the gigantic ninja turtle esc body of this rig first thing on the list was protection. A high clearance All Pro front bumper equipped with a warn M8000 and a 32 inch LED bar. All Pro rock sliders have been the most vital piece of protection on this rig saving the body countless times from rocks, trees, and shopping carts. In the back a Trail Worx rear bumper with swing out keeps the spare tire steady and protects from tail gaiters. Underneath All Pro bumpers keep the baby head rocks at bay.20150923_195054_zpspxewyyiu
With all that steel the suspension made this FJ look like a SoCal low rider so suspension upgrades where needed. Out front an All Pro long travel kit sits with Timbren Bump stops and Walker Evens remote resivor shocks providing 12 inches of wheel travel. This set up is 2 inches wider per side and makes the FJ corner better than stock. In the rear a pair of Califab lower control arms provide a sturdy base for the metal tech long travel rear springs and sway a way 2.0 rear shocks. 285/75/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers provide good grip offroad and a quite solid feel on road.20150916_193857_zps2i8japar20150923_194058_zpsxfjlqfro
Inside a custom storage space that folds into a 6 foot long sleeping platform makes overlanding easy and comfortable keeping you out of the elements. This has been a great rig that has taken a beating and come back for more every time. This may not be the best rig for anything but it does everything well. You can drive it 6 hours to the trail at 85 mph shift it into 4 low and wheel some tough trails than fold down the sleeping stage and go to bed.
